The area is a mixture of general needs and sheltered flats, and semi-detached and terraced houses. The flats are a mixture of two and three storeys, and six are situated above the shops on Anglesey Avenue.
There is also a sheltered complex mainly comprising of flats, as well as a few bungalows in the Woodbine area.

Most flats are one bedroom. There is a mixture of two and three bedroom semi-detached houses and two bedroomed terraces. Most properties have gardens. There are 352 Calico properties in the area.
Things to do
There are a number of parks and green spaces in the area, including Sycamore Avenue, Glamorgan Grove and Ightenhill Park. The local Apollo cinema is just a five minute drive away.

There is a general store on Anglesey Avenue.
The highly popular Sycamore Farm restaurant and family pub is nearby. There are also other pubs in the area, including the Ighten Leigh Working Men’s Club, Tim Bobbin and George IV.
A Spar shop, newsagent, sandwich shops, takeaways, butchers, pharmacists and hairdressers are all nearby.

Local community groups and resources
New Palace House Tenants and Resident’s Association is a local community group which supports the local area and residents. They hold an arts and crafts group and coffee morning on alternate Fridays, 10am-12pm.
PACT meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm at Gannow Community Centre on Adamson Street.
Gannow Community Centre is nearby, which hosts a number of community groups, including brownies, dance groups and ‘Knit and Natter’.
Bingo and a social club are held every Monday from 1-3pm at Community Link on Anglesey Avenue. They hold a police and Calico surgery from 10am-12pm on the second Thursday of every month.
The nearest supermarkets are Tesco and Asda in Burnley, just a short bus journey away.
