We set up the ABC Fund to provide extra money for community events. It provides funding for activities that will benefit the local community.
Graham Roberts set up the Coal Clough Community Association with help from the ABC Fund. He now runs a regular lunch club for the over-55s, which is going from strength to strength:
“We decided to start a dinner group for local elderly folk. We were lucky to get ABC funding – that money has been like gold to us. It really makes a difference. We’re now getting up to 30 residents each week. In the future, we hope to apply for even more funding to organise days out and even promote healthy eating.”
Other beneficiaries include, Burnley Community Farm, Sir John Thursby College, Burnley Disabled People’s Network and the Burnley Women’s Refuge.
