We’re raising awareness and showing support for those affected by anti-social behaviour during National Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week.
Running from 18-24th November, this year’s ASB Awareness Week theme is #MakingCommunitiesSafer.
Organised by national community safety organisation Resolve UK, the aim of the week is to highlight the importance of collaboration, community engagement, and supporting victims in creating safer environments for everyone.
Lyndsey Blades, Community Safety Coordinator at Calico Homes, said: “National ASB week gives our Community Safety Team an opportunity to let our communities know that we are here. It helps people know what we do and our commitment to tackling ASB in our communities. Our commitment is not just this week, it’s all year round to make them a safer place to live”.
According to national statistics provided by Resolve, almost 1 in 5 people have considered moving home because of the impact ASB was having on them – whilst 1 in 7 people surveyed said it negatively impacted their mental health.
What we’ve achieved this year
We’re always working to find ways to make our communities safer for everyone. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy where they live, so it’s vital you have the trust and confidence to report incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour to us.
This year, we have:
- Continued to engage with the community and target hot spot area of anti-social behaviour.
- We have worked closely with partner agencies such as the Police and Burnley Borough Council.
- We become a Third-Party Reporting Centre for Burnley, providing people with more options to report a hate crime without having to go directly to the police.
What is ASB?
Anti-social behaviour can be overwhelming, with the potential to wreck lives and negatively impact communities. ASB can also be a precursor to serious crime.
Anti-social behaviour is:
- Targeting a specific individual or group
- Causing nuisance, annoyance or suffering to a community
- Actions that affect the wider environment, such as public spaces or buildings
How can I report ASB?
As a housing provider, we know how difficult living with ASB can be. That’s why we’re committed to tackling all aspects of community safety in our neighbourhoods. If you’re living with anti-social behaviour, our Community Safety Team are here to support you.
You can report ASB in a number of ways:
- Report antisocial behaviour via cst@calico.org.uk
- By contacting Calico on 01282 686300
- Report to the police by calling 101, or 999 in case of an emergency
- If you wish to report a non- Calico Homes issue, Please contact Burnley Council on 01282 425011
If you don’t report it, then the problems may continue. Don’t assume someone else will report the problem.
