Pathway to Housing
Pathway to Housing helps people most in need to access affordable housing after leaving support services. The initiative has been developed between Calico Homes, Gateway and Safenet.
Due to the ongoing demand for housing, we recognised that there was a real challenge getting individuals living in our support services into long-term housing. This includes families and individuals living in refuges and people leaving homelessness services.
By working together to bridge this gap, we’re not only helping more people into their own homes at the right time – we’re also providing ongoing support to make sure they maintain their tenancies.
What problems are people facing?
When individuals feel empowered and ready to move into a new home, they often encounter significant barriers…
Not only were they struggling to secure homes in their chosen areas – they were finding it difficult to maintain their tenancy afterwards due to lack of confidence, no experience of living alone and struggling with the transition into housing.
Pathway to Housing allows us to work together to ensure we not only help individuals find a home, but we also support them to continue living their best lives.
Our impact so far
Since April 2024, we have successfully found 37 properties for survivors and customers from Gateway and Safenet.
The majority of those properties are now lived in by families from Safenet, meaning children can stay in schools, friendships can continue to grow, and their journey can continue through Calico Homes.
