Customers came together at Valley Street Community Centre recently to learn more about two new standards being introduced across social housing and share their views on how Calico should respond.
The session focused on new requirements around professionalism, competence and conduct, and giving customers better access to information about their homes. Calico is involving customers from the start to help shape its approach to meeting the new standards.
Customers were able to ask questions, share ideas and discuss what they would like to see from Calico as the changes are implemented.
Dawn Cardwell, Head of Business Performance and Assurance, said: “What we don’t want to do is just tick the box for the standard. We want to be better.
“We want to really have customers’ trust, be held accountable, understand what customers expect of us and deliver a really good service.”
One customer said the session would help them support others in their local community.
She added: “It’s helpful because you can pick up lots and lots of information.
“To be able to reassure customers that things are changing, and that there’ve been so many changes, it’s really good.”
The event forms part of Calico’s ongoing work to involve customers in decisions that affect their homes, services and communities. There will be further opportunities for customers to get involved and share their views as the standards are introduced.
