Calico has been shortlisted for three prestigious housing awards for the life-changing support they provide to the most vulnerable people in the community.
Calico has three nominations in two categories at the 2018 UK Housing Awards:
- Calico Homes partnered with SafeNet is shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding approach to meeting specialist housing needs (under 5,000 homes)’ category for Jane’s Place, the first Recovery Refuge in the North, which offers safe temporary accommodation for women and children at risk of domestic abuse who also have additional complex needs.
- Calico is shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding approach to tackling homelessness’ category for the vital support provided at the Elizabeth Street Project homelessness scheme, and for the much-needed investment in Gateway, a new, state of the art wellbeing project that will provide support and training to homeless and vulnerable people.
- Calico is also shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding approach to meeting specialist housing needs (under 5,000 homes)’ category for its work providing much-needed accommodation and support to Syrian refugee families.
The UK Housing Awards are run by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing Magazine, and are the biggest awards in the housing sector.
The winners will be announced in May.
Helen Thompson, Executive Director for Calico Homes and Ring Stones, said:
“Lots of people know us because we deliver rented housing, so it’s really nice to be recognised for the hard work we are doing for lots of other people across Lancashire and the impact this has locally.
“We’re really pleased we’ve been shortlisted. We’d like to thank all our staff for making a commitment to providing essential support to help change people’s lives for the better.”
