A 22-property high-quality housing development on Pomfret Street and Blannel Street in Burnley has been approved by Burnley Borough Council.
Following consultation, planning permission for the Calico Homes housing development was approved by the Council’s Planning department during a public meeting on Thursday 19th November.
The development follows the completion of Calico’s Primrose Mill in Briercliffe and is the latest in Calico’s Affordable Homes and Refurbishment Programme, which aims to build 463 new homes by March 2019, in addition to the continued the refurbishment of their existing housing stock across Burnley and Padiham.
Work on site will commence in December 2015, with the construction being carried out by Burnley-based Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction Limited.
Ring Stones are expected to create a number of apprenticeships and local construction jobs as a result of the development.
Wendy Malone, Calico’s Group Head of Development, said:
“Providing high quality affordable accommodation for local people, and the jobs that come with developing new homes, is a priority for Calico and our partners at Ring Stones.
“We are pleased with the Council’s decision, and are now looking forward to starting work on this much needed development.”
