The Calico Homes Board has approved investment of more than £25million to be spent on improvements to customers’ homes over the next 5 years.

The planned investment works will target areas identified by customers in a recent survey of over 1250 tenants.

The work included in the plan will include a range of improvements including doors, windows and an increase in the energy efficiency of all properties to at least an EPC “C” rating over the next 5 years. Work will continue to ensure health and safety standards are met.

Focus groups have taken place with customers and details of each programme will be agreed on and communicated with customers in the coming months.

The plan will also tackle issues such as damp, mould and condensation and the need to increase energy performance of homes to reduce the risk of fuel poverty.

Wendy Malone, Director of property at Calico Homes; ‘The investment recognises the need to improve the quality of our existing homes and that we want to make them more energy efficient.

This programme will see improvement to customers’ homes which we hope will make a difference by improving the energy efficiency of our homes, in a time of an energy crisis. More details will be released in the coming weeks.’
