Calico Homes is pleased to announce the appointment of David Gooda as the new Chair of its Board, following the planned retirement of Bill Lacey. This transition marks a continuation of the strong, customer-focused leadership that has defined Calico Homes in recent years.
David has served on the Calico Group Board since 2020 and joined the Calico Homes Board in 2024. He brings extensive experience in governance and community engagement, with a background in leadership development and a long-standing commitment to supporting housing associations, charities, and public sector organisations. David’s approach is rooted in helping organisations stay true to their values while delivering for the people they serve.
Reflecting on his appointment, David said:
“It’s an enormous privilege to have been chosen to succeed Bill Lacey as Chair of Calico Homes. Bill has been a model Chair: hugely knowledgeable, compassionate and always putting customers at the heart of decision-making. My job is to continue the work that he and the board have achieved in recent years.”
Calico Homes remains committed to delivering high standards in governance, financial strength, and customer service. The organisation continues to focus on improving communication, speeding up repairs, and keeping customers at the centre of every decision. These priorities reflect Calico’s ongoing commitment to its customers and communities, and are part of the steady progress the organisation has made over recent years.
“It’s a time of change – locally and nationally – and Calico has an opportunity to play its part,” said David. “I’m really looking forward to supporting the team through this next phase. There’s a lot of work ahead, but plenty to build on too.”
Chief Executive of The Calico Group, Anthony Duerden, welcomed the appointment:
“Having worked with David for many years, I am confident that he will provide the same thoughtful and values-led leadership that our customers and colleagues expect. This is a smooth transition, and our focus remains on delivering for our communities.”
Calico Homes is proud of its strong local presence and its commitment to helping people live well in their homes and neighbourhoods. Under David’s leadership, the organisation will continue to build on its strengths, working closely with partners and customers to make a positive difference.
