Calico Homes invites customers to help shape the future of their neighbourhoods

Customers across Burnley and Padiham are being invited to help shape the future of their neighbourhoods as Calico Homes starts work on a new neighbourhood strategy. The strategy will be shaped by the people who live in our communities and the things that matter most to them.

Over the last year, customers have told us that feeling safe, living in a well-maintained home, receiving clear communication and having a genuine say in decisions are all important. They have also told us they want stronger evidence that feedback leads to action.

Rather than developing plans and asking for feedback afterwards, we want customers involved from the beginning.

To help shape what happens next in neighbourhoods across Burnley and Padiham, we’re inviting customers to take part in a co-design workshop on Friday 4 September from 10am to 12.30pm at our offices on Croft Street in Burnley.

The workshop will explore what makes a great neighbourhood, what matters most to local people and where we should focus our efforts in the years ahead.

Amber Howorth, Neighbourhood Co-ordinator at Calico Homes, said:

“People are fed up of being asked for their views if nothing happens afterwards. If we’re asking people to give up their time, we need to show it makes a difference.

“The people who live in our neighbourhoods know where the challenges are, what they’re proud of and what they’d like to see improve. We want them involved before decisions are made, not after.

“We’re not looking for people to tell us what we want to hear. We’re looking for people to tell us what matters to them.”

Gemma McGiffen, Head of Neighbourhoods at Calico Homes, said:

“People tell us they want to feel safe, proud of where they live and confident that concerns will be listened to and acted on. That’s why we want customers involved from the start.

“We’re looking for a wide range of views and experiences. Whether you’ve lived in your neighbourhood for a few months or many years, we want to hear what would make the biggest difference where you live.”

The feedback gathered through the workshop will help shape the new neighbourhood strategy, covering areas including community safety, communication, neighbourhood pride, customer influence and the overall experience of living in a Calico neighbourhood.

We’ll share what we’ve heard, the themes that emerge and how customer feedback has influenced the final strategy. If people are giving up their time to get involved, they should be able to see the difference it makes.

Customers interested in taking part are invited to register their interest with Calico Homes by calling 01282 686 446.
