We’re delighted to share the achievements and success of the Calico Community Choice Round One funding project!
We’re thrilled to announce that “Casual Minds Matters,” a project dedicated to providing vital mental health support for men in and around Burnley, received the highest support from our communities and received £1000 in funding.
Thanks to the widespread support during the voting process, three projects received funding in total. As well as Casual Minds Matter, Warm Hearts’ Coffee Morning have received funding which provides breakfast, lunch and a safe space for people in the community every Friday.
Burnley Wood Community Group will also receive funding to host free dance classes for kids to make sure every child in the area has access to the same opportunities.
Thank you to everyone who was involved and helped contribute to backing projects that will have a huge impact in our community.
Next phases
Round Two submissions: We’re currently welcoming submissions for Round Two, with voting scheduled for June.
Site visits: On our journey to further support community groups, we’ll be making visits and engaging with organisations interested in securing funding.
We’ve already visited groups in Padiham, including Fenny Fold Community Garden and Padiham Hub at the request of our customers.
Should your group wish for a visit, let us know and we’ll arrange a meeting to explore the potential for your community project.
Stay tuned for more to come!
Keep an eye out for updates in May as we highlight the progress and impact of the winning projects from Round One.
Again, we’d like to say a huge thankyou again to all who cast their votes, spread the word, and contributed to the success of this initiative. Your involvement is essential in creating positive change in Burnley communities during challenging times.
If you or someone you know has a community group or concept in need of financial support, please reach out to customers@calico.org.uk for details and application materials.
