Energy efficiency works set to save Burnley residents money on fuel bills

Residents from 447 homes across Turf Moor, Belvedere, Burnley Wood and Brunshaw estates will be included in a new programme of energy efficiency works from Calico Homes.

Calico has obtained funding via the Energy Company Obligation (ECO2) to complete the works, which will include external wall insulation, replacement fascia, soffit and bargeboards, and replacement rain water goods.

The works, which will be carried out by Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction, in partnership with British Gas, will transform the appearance of properties across these estates, and will improve the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of the properties, which should result in significant savings on fuel bills for customers.

Phase 1 is due to start in early June 2015 on properties in the Belvedere Estate, including Holmes Square, Holcombe Drive, Chichester Close and Belvedere Road.

A customer consultation event was held in May, giving customers the opportunity to meet contractors and staff, and to view the material that will be used for the improvement works.

Owner occupiers who live on the Belvedere Estate have also been offered the opportunity to benefit from the energy savings works under the ECO programme.

An open day will be held mid-June for customers who have expressed an interest.

Lisa Bell, Calico’s property services manager, said:

“We’ve carried out similar improvement works in recent years on several estates across Burnley and Padiham, and feedback from customers has been extremely positive.

“Not only does the work significantly improve the appearance of our customers’ homes, and the estates as a whole, but it’s already lead to lower energy bills for hundreds of families – some of whom are now saving up to £300 per year in fuel costs.”
