Let’s start with some good news; we’re pleased to say that no evictions took place in 2023/24 for rent arrears. Due to always giving support to those who pay rent, everyone successfully sustained their tenancies.
As well as supporting those who pay rent, we also supported 146 people with food and fuel poverty over the 2023/24 financial year, as the cost-of-living crisis showed no signs of letting up.
Following this support, here’s what some of our happy customers told us: “You’ve helped me and my children which we are very grateful thank you!” and “Just keep being amazing!! Your support really helps change people’s lives! Thank you!”
Maximising your income
This year, we’ll be continuing to help support our customers with maximising their income. To do this, we’ll be holding various campaigns throughout the year. At our last event, almost 25% of customers found out they were entitled to additional income!
Not only that, but we’ll also be working in partnership with Burnley Borough Council to support and promote council tax support in the summer.
Our Income Team will also be supporting our customers to update their rent charges for the 2024/25 financial year, so that you receive the correct housing element in your monthly payments.
Moving more people onto Universal Credit
The Department of Work and Pensions are currently moving people from legacy benefits onto Universal Credit. The DWP will send ‘notice of managed migration’ letters to you if you currently get these benefits.
If you’re in doubt about moving onto Universal Credit, we can give you support and advice. Over 47% of our customers are now claiming the benefit, with many of you happy with the change.
In fact, one customer said we were “helpful and bent over backwards” for them!
