Exciting volunteer opportunity for residents of Burnley
Burnley Leisure & Culture is recruiting 30 Culture Makers – a brand-new volunteer team who will help shape and deliver Burnley’s Year of Culture in 2027.
This is a brilliant chance for local people to get involved, connect with artists, and help bring new cultural experiences to their neighbourhoods. No experience in arts or culture is needed – just enthusiasm, commitment, and a passion for Burnley!
What’s involved?
Culture Makers will:
- Meet regularly in small neighbourhood groups and borough-wide gatherings
- Work with artists and community partners to co-design cultural activities
- Access funding to commission an artist and create a local project
- Go on cultural visits to other towns and festivals for inspiration
- Represent their area on a borough-wide advisory panel
What you’ll get:
- Around 20 hours per month (mostly evenings and weekends)
- Full support from Burnley Leisure & Culture and partners
- Free tickets to Mechanics Theatre
- Discounted leisure membership
- Training, mentoring, and all expenses covered
