Board Update – March 2025

An update from Bill Lacey, Chair of Calico Homes Board – March 2025

Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some important updates from our recent Board Meeting held on Monday, 17 March 2025:

  1. Burnley Together

We celebrated the achievements of Burnley Together over the past year. This project was mentioned in the new Plan for Neighbourhoods by the Deputy Prime Minister as a great initiative.

  1. Annual Budget 2025/26

Our budget for the upcoming year was approved, focusing on three main areas:

Customer Services: We want to enhance our customer app “Calico Connect” and invest more into personalising the services we offer.

IT Systems: We’re investing in future-proofing our IT systems which will help us improve the customer experience.

Our Homes: We’ve allocated more money for repairs and maintenance based on your feedback.

  1. Governance and Compliance

We looked at what has been done to improve some of the services identified by the Regulator of Social Housing during their inspection of last year. You can find out more about that here: https://calicohomes.org.uk/meeting-the-standards/ . We will continue to update customers on progress as we deliver the actions to help us get to a C1 service.

  1. Property Updates

Stock Condition Surveys: We are well on the way to having an up-to-date survey on all of our homes which means one which has been completed in the last 5 years. This will help us to focus on the right areas for home improvements.

Repairs: The number of out of time repairs has reduced significantly from 647 on the 31/12/24 to just 49 at the time of the meeting.

Damp, Mould & Condensation: Lots of work has been done to ensure we can inspect any new cases reported to us within 5 working days and get work underway.

  1. New Developments

We’ve some exciting new projects underway:

Barclay Hills: We approved the start on site date for this new development.

Nicholas Street: We’re buying 18 apartments in a Grade II listed building once the work is done.

Leased Properties in Padiham: We have given approval for 19 new homes for specialised supported accommodation.

  1. Community and Customer Engagement

We’re all about customer feedback and engagement. We’ll provide regular updates and reports to ensure we’re meeting your needs. The Board loves hearing from you, so please share your thoughts.

Kind Regards

Bill
