A long-time employee with Calico Homes has been named ‘Hero of the Year’ at the Call North West Awards.
Part of Calico Homes’ Customer Service team, Hafiz Rehman role is B-with-us Administrator, which involves maintaining applications for properties and monitoring workflow.
As well as carrying out his day-to-day duties – which also include co-ordinating the marketing and lettings, advertising properties, and offering advice to applicants – Hafiz is known to go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service, and to help people get the property that is right for them.
Hafiz was recently responsible for ensuring a young, distressed Syrian refugee was able to find a suitable home.
Hafiz said:
“The 19-year old had nowhere to go, and was also the main carer for her younger brother. She had no support network, and didn’t know where to turn to for help.
“I sat with her and helped her fill in an application for housing, and also informed the Council of her situation, as she was going to be made homeless. The Council placed her in the highest priority banding, which meant there would be a high chance of finding a suitable property.
“Thankfully, the customer has recently found a suitable home with Calico which is close to her brother’s home. I’m glad I could help provide the support she needed to get back on her feet.”
As well as Hafiz’s big win, Calico Homes’ Customer Service team was also nominated for Best Business Improvement Strategy and Individual Newcomer of the Year.
