Enjoy a homemade Christmas to remember at Valley Street

Valley Street Community Centre is hosting a series of Christmas craft sessions this November and December.

Starting on 18 November, the free, family-friendly workshops will run alongside the popular Toasty Tuesday Coffee Mornings, and are designed to make this festive period a special one without breaking the bank.

Each week will include simple, low-cost materials to make festive decorations and gifts from things you can find around the home or garden.

A total of five sessions will be held, details of which are as follows:

  • Week One, Handmade Tree Ornaments – Create beautiful tree decorations using recycled cardboard and toilet roll tubes.
  • Week Two, Natural Wooden Decorations – Use twigs, leaves, and yarn to craft rustic woodland ornaments.
  • Week Three, Leaf Lanterns & Gingerbread Houses – Transform toilet tubes and cardboard into glowing lanterns and miniature festive homes.
  • Week Four, Dried Citrus Garlands & Chocolate Dipped Treats – Make your home smell amazing with dried orange garlands and learn how to create simple homemade gifts.
  • Week Five, Paper Lanterns with a Twist – Join one of our amazing customers to craft paper lanterns — the perfect finishing touch for your festive décor!

Emma Dickinson, Customer Voice Officer at The Calico Group, spoke on her excitement regarding the Homemade Christmas Craft sessions.

She said: “At Valley Street, we just want people to have a lovely Festive Period without the pressure of the cost, Christmas shouldn’t break the bank it should bring communities together.”
